Working With Punch
Process FAQ
The practical questions that come up before and during a campaign. For anything account-specific, your Punch contact will have the exact details.
Which platforms even allow political ads?
Currently: Meta, Google (Search/Display/YouTube), and Snapchat directly, plus CTV and programmatic buying through DSPs. TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Microsoft/Bing all prohibit political advertising outright, so they're not part of the plan. Platform policies do shift, so this is worth reconfirming each cycle rather than assuming it's unchanged.
How long does it take to launch a campaign?
Longer than a standard commercial campaign, mainly because of verification: political/election ad authorization on each platform (and often each DSP) can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, and it has to happen before anything else. Build that lead time into your timeline from the start. Your Punch contact can give you a specific estimate once they know your plan.
What do you need from us to get started?
Generally: access to (or help creating) your ad accounts, the information needed for political advertiser verification, approved creative with disclaimer text ready, and access to add tracking to your website.
Who's our point of contact once we're live?
Your dedicated Punch contact stays your main point of contact throughout: for questions, changes, and reporting.
Can we make changes after a campaign launches?
Yes, campaigns are actively managed and adjusted based on performance. Bigger changes (budget, timeline, audience, creative) should go through your Punch contact so they can be planned properly rather than made on the fly.
Is there a blackout period before an election?
On some platforms, yes: Meta, for instance, stops accepting brand-new political ads in the final week before an election, though ads already running can typically keep delivering. These windows differ by platform and aren't always announced far ahead, so confirm current policy close to your date rather than assuming last cycle's rules still apply.
What if we need to pause or end a campaign early?
Usually possible, though notice periods and any minimum commitments depend on your specific agreement. Check with your Punch contact or your contract for the exact terms.
